Community Connect

Penn State is excited to offer the Community Connect Program through CLC – shaped for crafters to have an opportunity to use the Penn State trademarks and participate in the integrity of the brand without infringing. Great candidates for the Community Connect program include small business entrepreneurs, bakers, crafters and fans or alumni who produce smaller quantities of inventory that is non-apparel based.

Contract Terms

  • A contract agreement term for the Community Connect program includes a flat royalty fee of $300 annually, run off the calendar year (Jan 1-Dec 31st.)
  • Once approved through the CLC Community Connect program, licensees are limited to a max sale total of $2500 or 500 pieces of Penn State trademarked product per calendar year.
  • Sales reports are due at the end of each contract term and if a licensee has exceeded the sales parameters of the Community Connect Program, CLC will help transfer the crafter to a standard level license for the following term.

Product and Artwork

  • Each crafter will have access to the Community Connect Direct Licensing Hub where art submissions for each design will be submitted for approval by Penn State’s licensing department.
  • Art designs need to be approved before they are on display for sale. Certain designs can be considered prior to creation on a case-by-case basis.
  • Unique and creative items are encouraged knowing that Penn State has the right to reject or ask for changes to a design or application if it does not meet brand compliance standards or falls outside of the Community Connect guidelines.
  • Penn State’s licensing office may require additional review of an item in the way of a physical sample.
  • Sales for wholesale or distributor sales are not permitting in the program.
